Bring on the summer showers

Of course I don’t mean rain, we’ve had enough of that, haven’t we? What I’m talking about are gorgeous refreshing body washes that will make you feel zingy and summery even if it is pouring down outside. And when the weather does improve, they’re a great way to feel fresh after a sweaty day. Are you in?

I’ve just noticed most of them have a citrus theme going on, mainly grapefruit, which wasn’t intentional but now I think about it, what better way to perk up your mornings until the long days turn short again. Here are my top five.

First up is from a new brand I discovered at Space NK called Prismologie. Their Yellow Day Shower Gel (£30) is rather special so I’m definitely going to be checking out the rest of the range. It’s a foaming gel with botanical extracts and citrine – and the packaging is yellow ‘for deciding to have a good day before the day’s begun’. Love it.

Next up is from old school French brand Roger & Gallet, famed for their lovely soaps in dinky cases. Their brand new Bienfaits Shower Gel (£9) is a zesty mix of blood orange, mandarin and bergamot and it smells a lot more posh than it costs.

From Green People is a limited edition Red Mandarin & Ho Wood Body Wash (£7.50). It’s not a huge bottle (just 100ml, so perfect for travel) but you don’t need much and the scent is really subtle. It’s packed with natural actives too: yucca to moisturise, red mandarin to increase circulation and Ho Wood (no idea either) to ‘powerfully stimulate cell regeneration’.

My purse friendly option is from Yes To. Their Grapefruit Rejuvenating Body Wash (£4.99) is out next month. For a mere fiver, you get a huge tube that will not only look super on your shower rack, it will leave your skin soft and glowing thanks to its blend of apple and grapefruit extracts.

Finally, from another new brand, Beauty Kitchen, comes Inspire Me Body Wash (£7.99). Based in Glasgow, all Beauty Kitchen’s products are freshly made and use natural ingredients. This shower gel is a great post-run or gym cleanser: the base is algae oil for moisturising, and it’s made extra perky with grapefruit and lemongrass. Gorgeous.
