Should Your Bridesmaids All Have the Same Hair Style for Your Wedding?

Summer is here, and that means wedding season is upon us once again! If it is your turn to get married this summer, you are probably now down to finalising some of the last minute details. More often than not, these are the aesthetic features which include considering how to choose the perfect bridal hairstyle, as well as the finishing touches such as make up for the big day. However, information is limited when it comes to bridesmaids, especially concerning the etiquette of just how in sync they should be for the ceremony. There is no right way for choosing the way your bridesmaids style their hair on the day of your wedding, but whether you plan on giving your bridesmaids free reign or whether you feel happier to decide the overall style, here are some aspects to consider:

Uniformity Can Look Nice If You Have a Strong Theme

If your wedding has a very particular aesthetic, an eye-catching colour scheme, a coordinated venue and carefully chosen flowers which compliment your theme then a uniform look for your bridesmaids can look especially nice, both on the day and in the photos. Otherwise, if you have a collection of very different styles, for instance, one bridesmaid with bohemian waves standing next to another with a slick chignon, you lose some of the consistency that your wedding otherwise has. You do of course have to factor in the differences the bridesmaids have to work with, but you can opt for similar textures and hair accessories to maintain a small trend.

Some People Feel Strongly About Certain Styles

On the flipside, while you may want your girls to have a similar look, be aware that this may mean that you are asking them to spend a day having lots of pictures wearing a look they really don’t feel comfortable with. If one of your best friends absolutely never wears her hair up, she is not going to feel good being asked to wear an up do to coordinate with the others. Also, if your wedding is more informal or quirky, the uniformity may seem a little odd or out of place.

Talk About It!

The best way to make the decision is to think about what you want in line with the look of your wedding and talk to all your bridesmaids about it.  This is the best way to avoid any problems if you had envisaged all of your bridesmaids with flowing waves and flowers in their hair and then Sarah decides three weeks before to get a pixie cut to beat the heat because she had no idea!

Hopefully, you’ll find an arrangement that pleases all your friends, and looks amazing on the day!
