Home Hair Remedies

Asgar Boo HaircareIf you’re overwhelmed with a cupboard full of hair care products this summer then fear not as Asgar is here to help you strip back and save pennies with top tips of home remedy tips.

Resident Daniel Galvin stylist and celebrity hair magician, Asgar has teamed up with StyleNest to bring you some top tips on how to care for your hair with simple kitchen cupboard ingredients.

Tip 1. Olive Oil

Apply a small amount of olive oil to the lengths and ends of the hair to nourish and moisturise hair that has been regularly exposed to the environment, heat and sun. Apply weekly to dry and course hair, making sure to avoid the scalp and roots of the hair as this area naturally gets oily.

Tip 2. Honey

Honey is a kitchen cupboard staple and a natural ingredient which is often found in shop-bought hair care solutions. The natural moisturising properties of honey draw in the moisture and will instantly seal into the dry hair that the sun and heat causes. Try smoothing small amounts of honey to the ends of your hair and leave it for an hour or so before rinsing it off thoroughly for beautifully smelling hair as well as nourished and shiny locks.

Tip 3. Egg

This may sound like an archaic tradition, but it really does work. Washing your hair with egg yolks once or twice a week can provide a pure source of protein and fat to frazzled summer hair. The protein and fat can effectively minimise the effect that the sun, sea, chlorine and humidity have on causing limp, dry locks. Make sure your hair is damp when you do this and carefully rub one egg yolk into the scalp and leave this for approximately 20 minutes and then rinse it out thoroughly for that extra strong hair boost.

Tip 4. Eat Right

We all know that you are what you eat, but knowing it and actually eating the right stuff are two completely different things. Your hair loves protein filled dishes including fish, nuts, spinach and Greek yoghurt to help boost thicker and fuller looking hair.
