The Park Lane Hotel London Underground Afternoon Tea

park lane teaMake sure you take a trip to The Park Lane Hotel London Underground Afternoon Tea this month, in celebration of the 150th anniversary of the London Underground train system.

Love it or loathe it, you can’t deny that the London Underground has a special place in all of our hearts and this year sees it celebrate 150 years of delays, closures and sometimes a normal working service. Head to the Park Lane Hotel to sample some of the delicacies on offer to mark this momentous occasion in style.

To mark this anniversary, The Park Lane Hotel’s award-winning Pastry Chef, Sarah Hartnett, has created an exceptional Afternoon Tea menu which will take customers on a culinary journey and will be served in the stunning Palm Court, The Park Lane Hotel’s sumptuous Art Deco lounge.

Guests will be welcomed to the Palm Court and greeted with a Metropolitan 1863 cocktail, a blend of Beefeater gin and blackcurrant tea. A selection of five sandwiches will then be served, each uniquely designed to honour a different element of the London Underground. The ‘London Bridge’ roll with egg, crème fraiche and sun-blushed tomatoes; warm leek, asparagus ‘Gloucester Road’ cheese tart, saffron ‘Circle and District Line’ roulade and mini ‘Royal Oak’ smoked salmon bagels are the perfect start to your London Underground culinary experience.

The next stage of your mouth-watering journey will involve towers of honemade scones, accompanied by ‘Limehouse’ custard and ‘Victoria Plum’ jam and clotted cream for a quirky take on traditional tea fodder.

The icing on the cake is most certainly the selection of London Underground pastries that follow. Guests will work their way around the tube map. The first stop will be Bank, for hazelnut pound cake, followed by Victoria for orange Victoria sponge and Paddington for honey, lemon and pistachio cake . The final culinary destination will be a white chocolate oreo Swiss ‘Roll’ Cottage.

To book, call The Palm Court on 0207 290 7328 or visit the website.
