Have you left your holiday choice until the last minute, in the hopes perhaps of landing a great deal or bagging a room in a luxury resort desperate to fill the space? No matter your reasoning, it’s a good idea to only look at great destinations that are going to improve

Algarve, Portugal

A popular tourist destination, hundreds of Brits pack their belongings and ship out the the Algarve, purchasing Portugal property and making the most of the extensive beaches and restaurants the area has to offer. So if it’s good enough to pack up sticks and live in for the rest of your days, it’s definitely a good option for those looking for a last minute destination for their holiday! If you love golf, it’s the perfect location with numerous courses set within attractive resorts where you can enjoy the sunshine and putt away to your heart’s content.

Gran Canaria, Spain

The Canary Islands are always a great choice when it comes to holiday destinations, offering exceptional hotels along the coastline – such as Anfi del Mar, with its gated areas, gorgeous gardens and private pools for holiday makers to enjoy in peace. Or you could choose somewhere a little more touristy, Mogan is a great option and features lots of traditional marketplaces to explore close to hotels in the area, as well as plenty of opportunities for fishing and hiking if you fancy it in the heat. The island stays warm all year round, even in December and January you could be enjoying average temperatures of 18-19°C.

Zante, Greece

Ideal for those on a budget, Zante is a hot destination for those looking to unwind and let their hair down while holidaying but it’s also great for those who just want to get away from it all and spend their days on a sunbed soaking up the sunshine. Choose your hotel carefully – no one wants to be lumbered with the ‘lads on tour’ group while enjoying a cocktail in the evening – and ensure it meets your needs. If you’re looking for a more cultured visit then choose a hotel close to the large towns and head to the North of the island to avoid the tourist tat that can be found in the South.

Campania, Italy

For those who love to explore, Campania can boast of the ruins of Pompeii and the ancient port of Naples but it also features the gorgeous Amalfi coast – perfect for those who love nothing more than donning a snorkel mask and taking a peek at what lies beneath the waves. Italy might seem expensive for many, but there are plenty of budget hotels offering last minute deals for those seeking sunshine and culture – and great ice cream!
