Be inspired by the Marina

Monaco is a place that’s known for dazzling blue waters that lap against harbours that are the home of expensive yachts. So, by using this as your inspiration, why not consider some nautical-themed items such as Breton stripes and light tailored or linen trousers. Colours like blue, white and cream can be mixed and matched any way you like so you can easily dress it up to go from morning to night.

Opt for statement prints

Unlike our nautical themed style advice, the trick with statement prints and colours is not to mix it up too much. Choosing a bold print or a busy pattern might seem daunting to some, but if you get it right, it can definitely spruce up your look. Try to choose something that you can wear time and time again, such as polka dot, gingham and floral and make sure that your chosen print is reserved to just one piece.

Be bold

The bold colours that we’ve seen a lot of recently both on and off the catwalk include hot pink, yellow and tropical green. If you’re not feeling that brave just yet, a more understated pastel colour will always be a safe bet and will keep you cool even when the sun is at its highest.

Don’t forget to accessorise

Of course, the number one accessory you’re going to need for your holiday is a pair of on-trend sunglasses. This year we’ve seen statement shades in the style of oversized aviators, cat eye shaped, big circular frames and bold rectangles. Another consideration might be a chic sun hat so go for a classic Panama or something a little different like a straw boat hat. Both are bound to go with any outfit.

Don’t forget your swimsuit

At the beach, you won’t look out of place in a minimal one piece, a bikini with classic stripes or a retro style halter neck that will be practical if you want to catch some waves. Dive head first into a few purchases because it’s likely that you’ll be spending a lot of your time on the soft white sand.

Keep it practical

Speaking of practical, you’ll need to make sure you pack the right footwear for your trip, especially if you want to spend time seeing all that the country has to offer. Avoid flip flops unless you’re hanging by the pool and instead go for a pair of leather sandals. Alternatively, go for a pair of comfortable loafers and save the heels for the late night bars.
