Make sure to check the difference between direct flights and flights with connections, as sometimes the trip will be cheaper if you agree to one stop on the way. One stop is fine as long as it is a short one that doesn’t happen in the middle of the night. The best way is to research your options online up to three weeks before booking. This gives you enough time to plan for price fluctuations and maybe to change the dates for a lower price. Start with the flight, and if you can choose to book the hotel at the same time. Once you’re done with getting to New York City and staying there, it’s time to ensure that you can enter the USA. UK travellers will need what is called an esta visa, which stands for Electronic System for Travel Authorization. You can register for it online for $14 for any travel and visits that are under 90 days. The ESTA is valid for a period of two years, which means that you can re-use it for further American holidays!
