Nadler Hotels

NadlerI think Nadler might be one of the most interesting hotel concepts in London. Brainchild of Robert Nadler, the group aims to offer high-end, five-star comfort and assistance at a drastically lower price point by focusing on the quality of the room offering, service, and nothing else. Following a similar wavelength to rival hotel chain Z Hotels, Nadler has quickly made a name for itself by offering no-nonsense stylishly minimalist rooms at a very affordable price point.

We checked in to Nadler Soho, probably the most famous of the group’s outposts. There are three other properties; a town house in Kensington, an appropriated warehouse-style building in Liverpool (very cool indeed), and their newest property in Victoria – an elegantly converted period building a stone’s throw from Buckingham Palace. Nadler Soho’s doors are adorned with a work of contemporary sculpture named Selene by artist Hew Locke. The stunning work depicts the Greek goddess of magic and the moon, a hint at the design lead hotel that awaits – and of course the mischievous mystique of Soho.

The Nadler vision is to do away with usual hotel facilities such as restaurant, bar, gym, spa, etc. By not pouring resources into these facilities, Nadler can offer a lower price point and focus on the standard of its offerings elsewhere. Their philosophy is that they’ve no need for a restaurant or bar when their hotels are located in vibrant foodie and cultural cities, with fabulous restaurants usually just around the corner. The hotels also nurture relationships with local restaurants and can provide their guests with priority offers.

We were welcomed by a charming and friendly receptionist called Anka, who was highly informed about the hotel and surrounding area. Our room had a large comfortable bed, spotless modern bathroom, television, and a well-appointed kitchen area. It couldn’t be faulted. We ended up using the hotel as a base to retreat to after supper at Dean Street Townhouse (which incidentally is a 30 second walk from the hotel). Nadler Hotels are perfect for those not looking for a destination hotel in which to spend large amounts of time, but rather a comfortable and modern place to stay at an excellent price.

I’d be surprised if the group doesn’t grow, it’s a clever little concept that does what it does very well.
