Castille Paris

p-coco-jsWhen StyleNest heard that luxury five-star hotel Castille Paris was offering a new weekend away in the capital entitled “Italian Chic & Parisian Haute Couture: Coco Package” we couldn’t resist another trip to the French capital.

And so just after Paris Fashion Week we headed over for our own weekend of fashion and luxury and to find out more about the iconic Coco Chanel.

Perfectly located at 33-37 Rue Cambon in the heart of the 1st arrondissement, the five-star Castille Paris is found just next to Maison Chanel, making it the perfect starting point for exploring Chanel’s life.

Also placed just a short walk away from some of Chanel’s favourite places in Paris, including the beautiful Place Vendôme and the Tuileries Garden, and not far from the Louvre Museum, Place de la Concorde and the famous shops of the Rue St Honore, Castille was also ideally located for exploring the city.

Lovingly restored to its eighteenth century glory, Castille has a grandness to it but with a small, boutique feel. Staff were friendly, remembered us during our stay, and were more than happy to answer and accommodate any requests that we might have. And with the hotel’s resident cat fast asleep on one of the lobby chairs when we arrived, how could we not feel at home.

Castille’s beautifully decorated rooms and suites also meant we could live in luxury for the weekend, a little like Chanel herself, and we were impressed at the size of our two-floor duplex. As tempting as it was to stay in our room and relax we headed downstairs for our Coco Package tour to meet our guide in the hotel’s bar. After been served a selection of delicious teas, coffees, and petits fours, we settled down to hear more about Coco Chanel.

Our guide expertly talked us through the fascinating and romantic tales of Chanel’s life using her style, creations, relationships, and most loved places to tell us more about the iconic designer and her legacy. We then followed Chanel’s footsteps through the official store on rue Cambon, before heading onto Place Vendôme and even through the doors of the Ritz, Chanel’s former home.

Amazed at how much there is to know about the designer, and how much we had learnt in just two hours, the tour proved to be one of the most enjoyable ways we had explored the city. A must-see for anyone interested in fashion, the tour also added an extra touch of glamour to our weekend, and our already wonderful stay at the Castille.
