MyDetoxDiet Top Tips

Mydetox TipsStyleNest have teamed up with MyDetoxDiet to bring you their top tips for increasing energy levels, clearing the skin and improving digestion.

We recently sampled a two day Detoxini from MyDetoxDiet, a health plan which left us energised, refreshed and totally free of toxins. Aiming to remove undue stresses which dietary factors such as salt, fat, sugar, caffeine, artificial colours and preservatives cause, the Detoxini is a two day vegan eating plan. Everything we needed to consume was within the MyDetoxDiet delivery, removing the hassle of deciding what to make at mealtimes.

Day one comprised of; Bircher Muesli, Chili Con Tofu with Brown Rice, Super Greens, Wheatgrass Shot and Raw Detox Salad with Kohlrabi Filled with Quinoa. Day two brought; Gluten Free Delight with Rice Milk and Nut Break, Moroccan Millet, Spirulina Balls, Broccoli Shot and Ragout from Chesnut Mushrooms, Sweet Potatoes, Leeks and Gnocchi plus Veggie Burger. Food was supplemented with herbal teas and you are encouraged to completely avoid caffeine and alcohol, drinking a minimum of 1 litre of water during the day. Meal plans are all personalised, so if there are foods which you really hate or are allergic to, these will not be included.

Although some elements had an acquired taste, food was refreshing, flavoursome and vibrant. Meals were delicious, meaning we were full enough to avoid that daily naughty food temptation. Our energy levels soared, leaving us looking at our regular diet in a new light. As well as gaining ongoing dietary insight, we saw noticeable results from the 2 day MyDetoxDiet Detoxini. For you to recreate a similar healthy eating plan at home, Ilona Wesle, nutritionist and co-founder of MyDetoxDiet, recommends a short detox. Designed to enhance energy levels, aid weight loss, clear the skin and improve digestion, follow these detox tips for 7 days…

  1. Swap alcohol, black tea and coffee for herbal tea. Nettle is great at supporting the kidneys, or try MyDetoxDiet’s 7×7 tea to cleanse the liver.
  2. Water is important, and you should aim to drink at least 1 litre per day – more is better. A litre may sound a lot, but if you keep a bottle by your desk and drink little and often you’ll be amazed how easy it is to sip regularly.
  3. Ditch fizzy drinks and opt for fresh juices. Carrot, beetroot, apple and cucumber are all good; they’re fantastically nourishing and cleansing.
  4. Give ready meals, savoury snacks and biscuits a miss. Food in its natural state is better for you than processed foods, so steam, lightly boil or poach. This keeps most of the goodness in the food, and retains the full flavour.
  5. To minimise your intake of toxic pesticides, choose as much organic food as you can. Do the best you can, it will make a difference
  6. Five portions of fruit and vegetables per day – ideally more – is a good idea every day, not just during the detox. A good tip is to cover at least 60% of your lunch and dinner plates with vegetables. But eat as much variety as possible, not just carrots and peas.
  7. Consume fewer animal products. Try soya or nut milks in place of cow’s milk, avoid all other dairy products, and good protein alternatives include lentils, beans, quinoa, seeds and nuts.
  8. As important as lots of water is plenty of sleep and exercising regularly. You can also support the Detox process by trying Yoga or Pilates. You can also treat yourself to a massage or infrared dome session (this sweats out toxins).
  9. By allowing your body a short rest and cleanse at the start of the year you’ll set yourself  up for the cold months ahead, and you’ll feel healthier, happier and able to enjoy life to the full.

A 2 day Detoxini Vegan Diet costs £78 and a 4 day Detoxini Vegan Diet is priced at £136.
