Elle's 4 Week Body Reboot: “Your healthy body countdown to summer”I’ve never been a fan of crash diets, crazy detoxes, or ‘quick’ fixes, I’ve always believed in the healthy, happy body approach and moderation. In the 90s when I was at school I had a slight dispute with my Home Economics teacher whom was teaching the class the way to stay slim and healthy was to eat lots of (processed) carbs and to load up on pasta, jacket potatoes and rice to feel fuller. At the time this was actually what most people believed! I (having always taken an interest in health and well-being) argued that if you were to eat vast amounts of carbohydrates, especially before sugary deserts, you were likely to put on weight due to the slower digestive process. The teacher said I was “talking rubbish” but I was certain I was right.

Something else I have believed in for quite a while now is the importance of reducing acidity in the body. It is accepted that the majority of people suffering from chronic illness have an unbalanced blood Ph that is too acidic. Over-acidity diminishes oxygen levels and supports unhealthy organisms, including tumours. When your body is unable to eliminate or neutralise these acids (mostly coming from our diet) problems begin to occur, including; accelerated ageing, fatigue, demineralisation (affecting teeth and bones), inflammation, and increased growth of microorganisms such as fungi and candida.

The great news is it’s very easy to fix! First, increase alkaline rich foods in your diet; spinach, kale, cucumber, broccoli, avocado, celery and peppers are the best options (as always!) but an AMAZING kick start is Elle’s (as in, Macpherson) 4 Week Body Reboot developed by Dr Simone Laubscher, PHD. This is the easiest health/body/well-being plan you will ever follow in your life!

You will need the Super Elixir Alkalising Greens (a highly specialised alkalising supplement containing vitamins, minerals and trace elements), the Super Elixir Nourishing Protein (a plant based protein containing essential amino acids which maintain blood sugar levels, fights free radicals and boosts metabolism) and cayenne pepper!

WEEK 1: No carbs after 5pm, 1 drink of the Super Elixir, 2 litres of water throughout the day.

WEEK 2: Build on the above and replace 1 meal with the Nourishing Protein mixed with 400ml almond milk and 1-2 fruits.

WEEK 3: Build on the above plus add Cayenne Pepper to at least 1 meal a day to boost metabolism and create a thermogenic effect to help burn calories.

WEEK 4: Build on the above and for 1 week cut out/down on all added sugar, dairy and processed starchy carbs. Increase your intake of green vegetables.

My aim was not principally to lose weight so I didn’t weigh myself at the start but I certainly feel trimmer and estimate a loss of around 4lbs!
