As winter approaches, days are growing shorter and Britain is falling back into their routines. While the summer is over, it would be a shame to waste the results of your hard work in the gym and fall back into unhealthy habits.

Once we are hit with stress it is difficult to stick to your healthy routine. However, it’s essential to keep yourself active through the winter months. Eating healthy and staying active is proven to improve your overall concentration, mood and immune system.

However, there are some easy tips to keep in mind that will help keep your body intact and avoid losing any lean gains you’ve made.

Stay active

Staying active doesn’t always mean that you should sign up for the gym, get a personal trainer and stick to a strict regime. Winter is tough for all of us. However, staying active over winter time is far more difficult since weather conditions often are not pleasant. There are still a few outdoor activities you can do over the winter months.

Hike

Hiking in winter time is far more challenging, yet it is a rewarding activity, which can help you stay fit and explore your surroundings. Tackling steep climbs in snow builds your entire lower body whilst helping you burn calories. Also, hiking can be very social experience which helps keep your mind off the exercise.

Ice Skate

Ice skating is a fairly uncommon sport. However you can use indoor or outdoor ice rinks to keep yourself active, and possibly learn a thing or two. Ice skating is a demanding sport, but it can be a great cardio substitute.

Swim

Swimming or pool sessions do not require as much commitment as gym, but it is a great activity, which can help you burn approximately 300 kcal over 30 minutes. More than that, using a pool in a winter time can improve your immune system and strengthen your body.

Eat Healthy

Eating healthy is one of the most obvious ways of keeping your bikini body. However, with Christmas just around the corner, very few of us can resist the temptations of hearty, wholesome yet generally unhealthy treats.

The key is to maintain a balanced and nutritious diet. For that reason, make sure you eat plenty of fruits and vegetables. Also, the importance of healthy fats should be stressed over winter time, so include meat, oily fish and other sources of protein in your diet.

If you cannot find a way to keep to optimal protein levels in your diet, it can be disastrous for muscle health and definition. Why not include some supplements to your diet to keep your nutrition intact?

Once you keep up with these simple tips, you should be able to maintain your bikini body. Not only will keeping yourself active and healthy will improve your daily life, it will keep your brain sharp and concentrated.
