5 tips to stay healthy in the lead up to Christmas

1) My main tip to stay healthy during the holidays is to take the festive focus sway from food and onto activities. Instead of meeting your friends for mince pies, try meeting them for a winter walk  instead.

2) Pick your indulgences. At Christmas it is tempting to just think “YOLO” and eat everything in site. Instead, decide what you want to indulge in at a festive occasion. Maybe one evening its wine, the next evening its christmas cake, and so on. Instead of indulging in everything every day, just exercise some moderation.

3)  Eat mindfully. Take time to sit back and enjoy your food. Instead of wolfing it down, take a moment to appreciate how delicious it is. It is so much harder to overeat when you eat mindfully and consciously.

4)Tackle the buffet. Buffets are a challenge, but there are a few simple tips to help avoid operating. The first is to only go for one full plate, no second round! The second is to fill half this plate with veggies. And the third is to let yourself have a little of what you really fancy. It isnt about deprivation, but moderation.

5) Drink tonnes of water. Hydration is key, especially when the drinks are flowing. To avoid dehydration, headaches and of course, hangovers, alternative every festive drink with some water. Or sparkling water with lime if you’re feeling fancy. It will help, I promise!
