Lingerie shopping can stressful for us ladies, so imagine what if must be like for men wanting to spruce up their significant other’s underpinnings. This guide will take the stress out of Valentine’s Day shopping, and ensure you’re happy with whatever he picks.

Step 1

Be prepared before you shop. When the coast is clear take a sneak peak inside her underwear drawer and jot down her sizes – a number and letter for the bra, e.g. 34C and a size for the briefs which usually come in dress sizes, e.g. 8, 10, 12 etc.

Step 2

Take note of what your lady usually wears, if she never wears a certain style of bra or brief there is probably a reason why. Stick to what she knows and loves in shape and style, and instead buy a designer label or luxury line she wouldn’t normally treat herself to.

Step 3

It’s a good idea to look inside her wardrobe for style and colour inspiration too. If she’s a fan of creams, whites and pale shades stick to white and ivory lingerie sets. If she rarely deviates from her LBD (that’s little black dress) or sticks to navy, it’s best to opt for black as it won’t show under clothes. If she knows her fashion be sure to invest in brands she’ll be lusting after. And although red feels right on Valentine’s Day, it’s the colour that gets returned the most post February 14th.

Step 4

Now you should be ready to shop. Get onto JohnLewis.com, navigate to the Lingerie department, and target your search either by brand or type. John Lewis’ helpful Lingerie Size Guide is always on hand should you get stuck.
