Tim Walker Exhibition At Somerset House

Tim Walker Story Teller ExhibitionHead to London’s Somerset House this winter to see the sensational Tim Walker exhibition, Story Teller.

Vogue, Vanity Fair, W and The New Yorker are just some of the titles fashion photograph Tim Walker has lent his craft to. This winter, the celebrated artist is being honoured with an exhibition at London’s stunning Somerset House.

Running from 18 October 2012 – 27 January 2013, the photography exhibition, which is supported by British luxury label Mulberry, showcases Walker’s signature surrealist style and features some of fashion’s best-loved faces from Stella Tennant to Karen Elson.

Walker has become renowned for this extravagant style, playing with shape, size and surrealism. His use of colour and humour is always apparent, making his photos look more like a film set than a fashion story. Each image tells a story from his obscure imagination, so it’s no wonder this retrospect has been titled, Story Teller.

The Somerset House exhibition is centered round Walker’s iconic photographs but also features props and installations from some of the famed photographer’s shoots. Visitors should expect to see unusual objects such as a giant creepy doll used on a Vogue shoot, to a life-sized replica of a doomed Spitfire fighter plane.

The exhibition will also include a series of special events from Spotlight Tours, which will take visitors behind the inspiration of each image, to Exhibitions on Film – a selection of films that fit in with Walker’s signature surrealist style. Keep an eye out for the screening of A Matter Of Life And Death on Saturday 3 November – an enchanting story of an RAF pilot who cheats death, or ultimate family classic The Wizard of Oz showing on Saturday 8 December.

The exhibition will also include a series of workshops for all ages offering visitors the chance to meet and learn from some of the creatives and specialists that collaborate with Walker to create his stunning images.

For fans of Walker’s this exhibition is sure to please and inspire, whilst newcomers to his work will be instantly won over. Each piece is a magical feast for the eyes and one exhibition you’re won’t forget in a while.
