Baz Luhrmann’s big screen remake of The Great Gatsby is set to hit screens this summer, but if the anticipation is getting all too much London’s Claridge’s hotel could have just the ticket to settle those itching dancing feet.

Taking place once a month from 25th February 2013, Claridge’s have teamed up with London’s finest flappers, dance troupe The Bee’s Knees, to offer visitors the chance to Charleston the night away with their 20s inspired masterclasses.

Set in the luxury London hotel’s opulent Ballroom, the events will hark back to Claridge’s own Art Deco heritage where the Roaring Twenties would have been in full swing with guests doing the Charleston or the Black Bottom.

Expert help will be on hand from The Bee’s Knees girls who will teach guests the important steps of the era, from the ‘scare crow’ to the ‘bunny hop’.

The lessons will be immense fun and will transport you back to the decadent days of the twenties” explains Aila Floyd, co-founder of The Bees Knees.

Guests are also invited to really get into the spirit of things by dressing up in their 20s finery – think headbands, strings of pearls, evening gloves and sequins galore.

For those needing a little Dutch courage to get on the dance floor treat yourselves to a tipple or two in the form of Claridge’s now legendary ‘Flapper’ cocktail that was created back in 1929 to celebrate the opening of the hotel’s decadent Ballroom.

Each lesson lasts 120 minutes, so grab a partner this spring and Charleston your way back to the age of decadence.

Claridge’s Charleston Masterclass will take place on the following dates from 6.30 – 8.30pm. Each class is priced at £125 per person for 120 minutes, followed by a cocktail.

25th February/ 18th March / 15th April / 13th May 2013.
