Hermès Leather Forever Exhibition

Neon Kelly BagIconic brand Hermès open Leather Forever exhibition in London.

To celebrate reaching the grand old age of 175 years, one of fashion’s most iconic and best-loved brands have opened a major new exhibition in London. Hermès; known for its impeccable luxury, equestrian inspired leatherwear and of course, the most coveted bag of all time, The Birkin, have become synonymous with French fashion and style for decades.

From 8th-27th May, Hermès will be showcasing the brand’s lifelong relationship with leather at London’s Royal Academy of Arts. Since the fashion house’s launch as a fine saddle and harness maker in 1837, leather has been at the heart of the Hermès’ brand. The exhibition reflects this by taking visitors on a poetic journey, delving deep in to the Hermès archive and guiding you through to some of the brand’s most recent creations.

Leather Forever also touches on the history of what is essentially a family brand. For six generations Hermès enterprising artisans have created, driven and stayed true to the company and its values and to showcase this craftspeople from the Parisian Hermès workshops will be on hand to demonstrate their iconic crafts.

For the fashion hungry amongst you, fear not there will be plenty of style eye candy on show from the idolised Kelly and Birkin bags to exquisite Hermès silk printed scarves. To celebrate the exhibition, four unique bags celebrating Britain have also been created with all proceeds going to The Royal Academy of Arts charity.

Eternal style, luxury and above all, craftsmanship are at the forefront of the Hermès brand and have been for centuries – the Leather Forever exhibit is a chance to see this first hand.

The Hermès Leather Forever exhibition is on at The Royal Academy of Arts, 6 Burlington Gardens, London. Open Monday to Sunday 10am until 6pm and on Fridays until 10pm. Entry is free.
