GapKids x ED

GapHere at Stylenest we have always been big fans of GapKids and their designer collaborations in the past- Stella McCartney, Diane Von Furstenburg and last year Kate Spade.

This time it’s the turn of American chat show host and comedienne Ellen DeGeneres who has teamed up with the retailer to create a line of children’s clothing in collaboration with her lifestyle company ED. The campaign aims to celebrate the things that make people different.

“Gap has always encouraged people to be themselves, and I love that they have the same values that I have: to be true to who you are and to wear cute pants,” DeGeneres told British Vogue. “I know from my own experience that nothing makes you feel better than being who you are and celebrating what makes you unique.”

GapKids x ED is an apparel collection and social movement supporting the strength and power of girls, encouraging them to embrace and celebrate their individuality. The campaign shines the spotlight on incredible youngsters, including professional skateboarders and drummers, a pint-sized entrepreneur, and a nine-year-old who works on creating prosthetic hands.

There’s a definite girl-power feel to the clothing line and two key pieces of iconography have been developed for the range which feature throughout- a lightning bolt (to represent power), and a speech bubble (to allow girls to find words of encouragement).

To coincide with the launch, a social campaign where girls can encourage one another and share their stories has been launched, using the hashtag #heyworld.

Prices range between £9.95 and £29.99 and the collection is now available at www.gap.co.uk and in all GapKids stores in the UK.
