A Serious Case of Sleep Deprivation

Sleep deprivation has been making me fairly deranged this weekend, with a rather poorly Theo. My normally placid and giggly baby spent an entire day screaming on Thursday, at which point I swiftly took him to the GP.

Why is it that when babies appear very unwell at home (to the point of major parental concern) as soon as you get them in front of a medical professional they’re a bundle of laughs? All I can put it down to is some sort of strange baby sense of humour.

Turned out to be a heavy cold but it has been enough to restrict both of us to an average of 27 minutes sleep a night. That’s what it felt like anyway when I found myself putting the cereal in the fridge this morning. Not that I particularly cared as my exhaustion has been very happily eclipsed by Mr T saying Mama for the first time. I have admittedly felt close to forgetting my own name in this sleepy haze, clever boy.

In a bid to regain some sanity I took a trip to Zanders hair salon in Newcastle on Saturday. A hefty blast of Maximo Park’s The National Health on the drive there and I was set. Having fancied the Ombre look for a while I followed a Twitter recommendation in my quest for a luxurious salon that would do this style well. Thank you, @PixieTenenbaum, you were spot on. After running out of Touche Eclat this afternoon I’m hoping for some decent snoozing tonight or I’ll most likely be requesting a G+T at Singing Tots tomorrow. Alongside the usual coffee and cake that is…
