Hema Launches In the UK

HemaMove over Ikea and make way for Dutch lifestyle department store Hema. The value retailer with a flair for design has opened its first UK store in London Victoria, with plans for two more in the coming months.

A cross between Poundland and Ikea the Dutch store offers similar bargains and easy-on-the-eye designs. Hugely popular in Europe with around 660 outlets, the company was started in the early 1920s by two Jewish entrepreneurs who wanted to offer struggling shoppers some cheaper alternatives.

The store definitely makes shopping simple by splitting its departments up into Eat, Study, Children, Living, Cook, Beauty and Sleep areas, and the prices are all in round figures, so £5 instead of £4.99.

The kids are taken care of with some good essentials in accessories, decoration and toys. If you have any kids parties to plan you will find beautiful coloured party paper cartons, plates and cups. There are proper wooden toys, dress-up outfits, great holiday shoes (jelly shoes) and stylish storage for all of those toys.

Well designed goods, produced in house at amazingly low prices- what’s not to love?
