Getting married is one of the most important days of your life. Spending hours agonising over venues and dresses is enough to turn even the most mild-mannered women into a true Bridezilla! Organising a wedding can be stressful, and is enough to put many men on getting involved. Many are happy to leave the bulk of the arrangements to his bride to be. Of course this isn’t always the case, but it tends to be the women who make most of the decisions!

How do you make sure your wedding is just how you want it? How do you ensure it goes to plan? If you’re bored of the run of the mill wedding themes and ideas then how do you find something more individual? Your wedding day should reflect your individual personalities coming together as a couple.

You can get married in a wide variety of places in 2016. You’re no longer limited to the choice of Church or Registry Office. You can get married in all sorts of weird and wonderful venues.  From parks to Stately homes, from old barns to the Blackpool tower, your nuptials needn’t be boring. You’d be surprised at the number of unusual venues in the UK that now hold a wedding license. Check out your favorite places and you might find you can get married there!

The days of having to have a traditional wedding cake are long gone. They have taken a dive in popularity as modern brides seek to try something different. Many people these days don’t seem so keen on a heavy fruitcake and opt for something lighter. Cupcake towers are still on trend as are simple sponges decorated in a contemporary style. A fantastic talking point for any nuptials, a Croquembouche looks stunning. It’s a pyramid like of profiteroles, decorated and held together with complex spun sugar. A Croquembouche is not cut with a knife; tradition says it is meant to be smashed with a bottle. That’s much more fun than marzipan!

The type of entertainment you have at your wedding should reflect your tastes. Of course, if you’re into death metal, and you’ve got a coachload of old aunties coming, it pays to keep the music fairly neutral. Or, at least during the day! Swing Bands are popular across the board. There are all different types of wedding entertainer, from magicians to wandering minstrels. There are even some burlesque style wedding acts, but you may have to bear your guests sensibilities in mind.

Your wedding is YOUR big day, and you should make it to your tastes. Although it’s always wise to bear your guests in mind, ultimately, it’s all about you. Don’t be put off by others opinions, it’s what makes you happy. It’s a day to remember for the rest of your life, so don’t regret a single minute of it! Whatever style of wedding you choose don’t forget to take a few seconds on your wedding day to make more memories. It will pass so quickly. It is a good idea to have a moment to take it all in and savor the moment. Congratulations!
