Now we are in a new year, it’s the perfect time to give our house a spruce up. After all, we want it ready for the events of this year. And it’s not probably had much done to it since October. One place you should start is the garden. After all, now is the perfect time to start making some improvements. Here is what to buy now to get your garden ready for spring.

Invest in some new tools

Although you might not require them now, you will need some garden tools in good shape by the time spring arrives. After all, you will want to ensure your garden looks fabulous and ready for guests to come over. You should go through your old tools and clean them with soap and water. You will be able to see which ones will last you through the next few seasons. If you need some new ones, you should head down to your local hardware store and find some tools which will last you for the year. That way, you can be rest assured that you have everything you need to keep your garden in tip-top condition during 2017.

Buy a new BBQ

You are bound to want to have a BBQ as soon as spring arrives. After all, there’s nothing better than enjoying some grilled food in your garden. Therefore, you need to make sure you have one in your garden ready for your springtime cooking. One of the best things about January is the sales in the shops. They often have good deals on new BBQs ready for the spring and summer months. Therefore, you might get a fantastic BBQ at a cheap rate for your garden. If you don’t want to buy one, you could build one in your garden. It’s often an attractive feature that will be a good selling point when you do put the house on the market. And you won’t have to worry about it rusting when the weather turns freezing.

Add a pond

Another thing you should consider adding to your garden this year is a pond. After all, it’s an attractive feature that people will love in your yard. They will all want to have a look at the fishes when they come over for a visit. And it’s also a relaxing feature which will draw wildlife to your garden. Just make sure you make it safe for youngsters, so there are no accidents in the garden. And get everything you need such as a good filter and pond pumps to keep the water and the fish in good condition. After all, you don’t want murky water when people come over to your garden!

Buy some compost for your soil

When spring arrives, you will want to plant some flowers ready for the following months. But to ensure you can get planting, you need your soil to be in good condition. Therefore, it’s a good idea to give it some TLC now. You might want to buy some compost (if you don’t have one at home) and add this to soil. It will enrich it with nutrients so that it’s ready when the time comes for planting!

And remember to get some new outdoor seating ready for your backyard. That way, you can enjoy sitting in your garden when spring does arrive in a couple of months!
