Tom’s Kitchen, St Katharine Docks

Toms KitchenStyleNest strolled along St Katharine Docks on a recent sunny summer’s day, stopping in at the delicious destination that is Tom’s Kitchen.

Perfectly placed within St Katharine Docks, this modern British brasserie is part of four restaurants and three delis across London, all founded by Chef Tom Aikens. Focussed on the ethos of serving British favourites within a relaxed and informal setting, we love the calming atmosphere which the restaurant conveys. Stepping into the brasserie after a walk along the docks on one of London’s hottest days this summer, Tom’s Kitchen provided us with a lunchtime comfort-food haven.

Passionate about using only British suppliers and produce, the menu reflects this home-grown notion with dishes such as Beer Battered Pollock & Chips with Crushed Peas, Tartare Sauce and Lemon and Cumbrian Rump Steak.

Excellent service throughout, we were shown to our table immediately and seated just overlooking the docks. Going straight for a glug of water, we perused the Weekend Brunch Menu before plumping for House-Smoked Beef Carpaccio with Rocket & Walnut Pesto and Confit Tomatoes. My other half chose the Spicy Crab Cake with Tomato & Cucumber Salsa. All washed down with a thirst-quenching bottle of house red, we devoured the fantastic flavours within each dish.

For our mains we both went for the mouth-watering Tom’s Kitchen Burger with Smoked Applewood Cheddar, Bacon, Gherkins and Tripled Cooked Chips. A mouth-watering sight to behold, Tom’s Kitchen Burger is one of the best we have ever tasted. Aside from the amazing and delish Triple Cooked Chips, the flavours packed into this burger were sublime. As part of the Weekend Brunch Menu, we promise it would help to ward off any lingering hangovers, or just start off your Saturday with an almighty bang.

As it was such a warm day, we chose the refreshing sorbet to finish, although the Gooseberry & Elderflower Fool also caught our eye. A selection of flavours on offer, I picked pineapple and raspberry, while my other half decided on raspberry and blackberry. The perfect end to a perfect brunch, Tom’s Kitchen at St Katharine Docks was a delight to visit and an experience which we would thoroughly recommend.

With private dining and events available, not to mention a trip to the adjoining deli, there are many reasons to visit Tom’s Kitchen, St Katharine Docks.
