Cajun Jambalaya Recipe

JambalayaAdd some spice to the midweek with this classic Cajun Jambalaya recipe. 

Packed full of flvour, Jambalaya mixes hot spices with tasty meat, fresh seafood and chunky veg. Quick and easy to make, this one-pot wonder will become a family favourite after one serving.

What You’ll Need:

  • Chicken & King Prawns (raw), 200g in total
  • 50g chorizo, diced
  •  1 small onion, finely chopped
  •  50g celery, finely chopped
  •  100g green pepper, chopped
  •  180g rice
  • 2/3 tbsp sunflower / olive oil

In The SimplyCook Box:

  • Garlic Paste
  • Jambalaya Paste

What To Do:

1. Dice the chicken and then coat the prawns and chicken in the Cajun Seasoning.

2. Heat a large frying pan at high heat with a few tablespoons of olive oil. Add the chicken and Garlic Paste stirring really quickly till all the chicken is coated in the garlic paste. Fry till all the chicken is cooked, then take out of the pan and set aside.

3. Add the chorizo to the pan and fry until crispy.

4. Add the onion, green pepper and celery and cook until soft.

5. Add the rice, 400ml of boiled water and the Jambalaya Paste, stir and simmer for 12 minutes.

6. Add the meat and prawns to the pan and simmer for about 5 minutes, until the prawns are pink (adding more water if needed) and serve.
