Gammon Glazed in Marmalade and Shredded Stem Ginger

Christmas GammonThis deceptively simple festive Glazed Gammon is perfect for dinner parties as it will cook in the oven whilst you get ready for a fuss free dinner! It’s delicious served warm with fluffy jacket potatoes, or cold with crusty bread and chutneys.

Serves: 4 – 6

Preparation Time: 20 minutes

Cooking Time: 2 hours

What You’ll Need:

  • 1.25kg (44 oz) Denhay Unsmoked gammon Joint
  • 4 tablespoons orange marmalade
  • 1 stem ginger, drained and finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar

What To Do:

  • Line a roasting tin with a double sheet of foil. Place the gammon in a roasting tin, cover loosely with foil and cook at 180oC for 35mins per 500g (17 ½ oz).
  • Once cooked, remove the skin from the gammon, leaving behind a thin layer of fat. Score the fat with the tip of a sharp knife (make small shallow cuts along the fat)
  • Mix together the marmalade, stem ginger and brown sugar and spread evenly over the fat.
  • Bake in the oven for 30 minutes until the glaze is sticky and golden. Leave to rest before carving.
