Mulled Wine

mulled wine in saucepanThis comforting festive treat from Emma Forbes is warm, aromatic and most certainly more-ish. And best of all, this recipe is alcohol-free so the whole family can enjoy a mug of the Christmas drink.

Serves: 6

Cooking time: 10-15 minutes

What you’ll need:

  • 1.2 litres/2 pints cranberry juice
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 2 cloves
  • 50g/1¾oz fresh cranberries
  • 50g/1¾oz sugar
  • ¼ tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 orange, sliced (optional)

What to do:

  1. Put all the ingredients in a large saucepan. Bring to the boil and simmer for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the cranberries have popped and the sugar has dissolved.
  2. Serve in mugs, with a slice of orange on the edge, if wished.
