Gingerbread Skeletons

Ginger Bread SkeletonsGive your gingerbread biscuits a scary skeletal design this Halloween. A great way to get the kids involved, this fun Halloween holiday is activity makes for great party bag gifts.

Makes 25-30 biscuits

What You’ll Need: 

  • 250 g (9oz) plain flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1½ tsp bicarbonate of soda
  • 1 tsp ground ginger
  • 85 ml Flora Cuisine
  • 85 g (3oz) soft brown sugar
  • 85 g (3oz) golden syrup

To decorate

  • 100 g (3½oz) white chocolate, melted
  • White writing icing (other colours optional)

What To Do:

  • Sieve dry ingredients into a mixing bowl.
  • Add remaining ingredients and mix together to form a soft dough.
  • Roll out the dough to a thickness of about 75mm (¼ inch).
  • Using cutters, cut into gingerbread people.
  • Lift carefully onto lightly greased baking trays.
  • Bake in the centre of preheated oven at 210°C, 190°C fan, Gas mark 7 for about 10 minutes. Check that the shapes are not scorching after about 6 minutes. They are ready once lightly golden brown.
  • Once completely cool decorate to look like skeletons, using the writing icing to draw on the bones.
