The Park Lane Hotel Flowering Afternoon TeaIt’s all about the flowers this spring and this year, The Park Lane Hotel are celebrating the centenary of the Chelsea Flower Show with a Flowering Afternoon Tea.

Celebrate the Chelsea Flower Show’s 100th anniversary at The Park Lane Hotel with a blooming delicious Afternoon Tea filled with flowering delights and an edible garden gnome.

Served in the Palm Court, the art deco lounge the Afternoon Tea will include a range of garden inspired treats crafted by pastry chef Sarah Hartnett who has created an edible garden gnome centre piece in celebration of the ban which has been lifted to accept garden gnomes at this year’s Chelsea Flower Show.

Guests will get treated with a Wild Blossom Champagne Cocktail finished with an edible hibiscus flower soaked in syrup. A selection of five sandwiches and savoury delights will be on offer including poached Scottish salmon, cucumber and fennel crème fraiche served on a mini muffin and orange blossom honey with wholegrain mustard roast ham with candied tomatoes and watercress on white bread as well as goats cheese asparagus and lemon verbena tartlet with soft boiled quails egg.

In true traditional afternoon tea form, scones will be served warm and homemade with a selection of plain and apple with raisin with zesty lemon verbena curd and clotted cream and seasonal preserves.

Following the floral themed tea, a selection of floral pastries such as a chocolate hanging basket with spiced Chai tea mousse and chocolate soil, a honey orange blossom pain de gene with mango compote and edible honey bees, a rosewater and raspberry mousse with crystallised rose petals on a rose macaroon and Pistachio and hazelnut chocolate financier “garden patch” with chocolate ladybird. The pastries will be presented on a marzipan gardening patch edged with a chocolate rockery and will be complete with the edible garden gnome centrepiece perched on a white chocolate toadstool.

A selection of teas will be on offer including herbal and fruit infusions as well as a range of flower teas of course such as flowering jasmine peach and whole rose bud whilst the Palm Court’s resident harpist will be create a tranquil atmosphere that will make you want to sink into your seat and never want to leave.

Located in the heart of London, The Park Lane Hotel is a London landmark boasting views of London’s leafy St James’s Park. A strones throw from the hustle and bustle of London’s Oxford Street and the luxury shops of Bond Street, The Park Lane Hotel is the ideal location for London’s theatre district and some of the city’s most famous restaurants.

The Flowering Afternoon Tea is priced at £45 per person and  will be served from 14 May until 9 June 2013 from 3-6pm on weekdays and 2-6pm at weekend.
