The Corinthia Hotel London Launches The Sleep Menu

The Northall Restaurant Corinthia Hotel LondonThe Corinthia Hotel London launches the Sleep Menu for the ‘Power of Sleep’ project.

We all know how important a decent night’s sleep is, however, achieving that perfect eight hours is often a different story. With both work and family pressures, often catching a few Z’s turns into a nightmare instead of a dream.

The Corinthia Hotel London aims to welcome all guests with a night of quality sleep. Executive chef Garry Hollihead has teamed up with nutritional therapist Jeannette Hyde to help design the Sleep Menu, available at the Northall restaurant.

With an offering of high quality, British sourced ingredients, the Sleep Menu is based upon four principles. Including a portion of protein helps balance blood sugar levels and avoid cravings for stimulants as well as food rich in proteins containing amino acid tryptophan which is used to make the sleep hormone melatonin. Foods such as salmon, haddock, eggs, pumpkin seeds and walnut oil are rich in omega-3 essential fatty acids and important for brain health and lastly, foods rich in magnesium help to relax the muscles and mind.

And it doesn’t stop there, wake up to a healthy start and tuck into the most important meal of the day with a breakfast menu offering dishes such as blueberry protein shake with flaxseed, almonds, Brazil nits and walnuts and Bircher muesli, designed to promote a healthy sleep from waking.

“There are many factors which can disrupt sleep, but eating food of excellent provenance containing quality proteins, vitamins, and minerals can only be a good thing if you want to feel better and sleep better.  The food on this menu has been sourced by executive chef Garry Hollihead from the best, small, artisanal, food producers in the UK, keeping air miles down and nutrient-density high” – Jeannette Hyde, nutritional therapist.

For those who sometimes crave a bedtime treat or midnight snack, guests can order sunflower seed butter, banana and pumpkinseed cookie with Horlicks milk or Valerian tea, perfect to help generate, served in their bedrooms or in The Northhall.
