Covetable – Air Max Zero

I may have mentioned his name here before, but few in modern design of any form are as deservedly revered as Tinker Hatfield.

His invention and imagination have become a byword for excellence for sneaker heads and aesthetes the world over.

March 26th is now affectionately known as Air Max Day, where one of Hatfield’s most iconic silhouettes is celebrated.

This year, Nike has upped the ante for obsessives with the release of the Air Max Zero. Billed as ‘the one before the 1’ as a reference to the Air Max 1, which was released in 1987 showcasing the visible air unit Nike pioneered. The Zero has been brought to life from a sketch of Hatfield’s from the best part of thirty years ago, and as usual still manages to look more like the future than brands striving to catch up now.

Available for pre-order now ahead of a release, logically enough on March 26th.
