Of course all opinions about design, fashion and aesthetics are subjective.
That said, I fully love this Alexander Wang x H&M yoga mat. Granted, I have only seen images thus far, but I love it.
Save for consistently and quietly dominating the high street, H&M have also managed to collaborate with the great and good and the headiest end of the fashion elite year in, year out.
Following on from the likes of Margiela and Versace this year is, of course, no exception. November 6th sees the release of a range with Alexander Wang which is causing apoplexy amongst fashionistas and hypebeasts alike, and vague bafflement elsewhere. Regardless, and in a terminology apt for such pieces, H&M have sonned the industry from top to tail.
We will preview more pieces ahead of the launch, but in the interim, back to the matter in hand.
For one of my ever encroaching years head to foot Alexander Wang may be a bridge too far, collaboration or not. However, much of the collection is eminently wearable and stunning in its simplicity.
As for the yoga mat in question, it may well be a singular piece of perfection. Cynics could argue that is is arbitrary and random- an aside amongst the more practical pieces the collaboration offers. They would be wrong. It is beautiful and functional at the same time, from the print to the strap. For something all black it is, in my humble opinion, utterly joyous.
