The Topshop Best of British collection returns for AW12 with a range of winter coats.

Topshop’s dedication to nurturing British design talent is well-recognised thanks to their numerous capsule collections from the likes of Richard Nicoll and Mary Katranztou, as well as their NEWGEN initiative. The high street behemoth has continued the flag flying this season, with the return of their Best of British collection.

This July, Topshop will launch the range in store and online comprising a seven-strong collection of winter coats. Cut from British cloth and manufactured in the UK, the Best of British collection is a celebration of both style and quality in this country.

Bringing together tradition and innovation (something British design manages to do perfectly) the coat collection features everything from classic Prince of Wales checks to contemporary leather details.

A strong military theme runs throughout the collection with high collars, double breasts and masculine shapes. The Military Great Coat (£275) is the hero of the collection with its WW2 inspired shape and khaki colour. Not just stylish but hugely practical once the cold weather sets in.

The classic biker is given a modern update with a longer length and nods to heritage chic in Merton Wool. Priced at £175 it’s a statement piece and sure to last season and season thanks to impeccable craftsmanship.

The Topshop Best of British collection is entirely manufactured in the east end of London, supporting British industry and shining a light on UK fashion once again. It’s a collection we’ll be investing in with pride.
