The Sophia Webster for J. Crew Collection has finally launched in store and online. 

It was announced last year that British footwear designer Sophia Webster and American fashion brand, J. Crew were to join forces for an exclusive, transatlantic collaboration. Well, the wait is finally over as the collection hit stores and online shops this week.

The partnership came about after J. Crew Creative Director and self confessed Sophia Webster fan, Jenna Lyons approached the young British designer about a possible collaboration.

“It’s a collaboration in the truest sense,” explains Webster. “Jenna and the team selected their favorite looks, then I was let loose with J.Crew’s entire spring/summer 2014 materials and colour palette. I was like a girl in a sweet shop!” 

The result is a culmination of the two brand’s sensibilities, Webster’s coquettish, playful humour and J. Crew’s practical luxury. Expect to see J. Crew’s SS14 colour palette of monochromes, nudes and delicate pastels, worked into Sophia’s signature detailing from polka dots to tassels.

Standout pieces in the collection include the Poppy Pumps. Instantly recognisable as a Webster design, they feature cutout oversized check pointed toes, a monochrome harlequin print and tassel ankle ties.

Whilst the Anneka Kitten Heels tap into spring/summer’s pastel trend with a pretty pink star print.

And the most statement of them all are the Sophia Webster for J. Crew Finn Pumps. The Webster cut-out, peep-toe classic have been reworked in vibrant J. Crew checks – the perfect pairing to relaxed boyfriend jeans.

As collaborations go, this one comes with a price tag, with each design costing as much as a standard pair of Sophia Webster’s, at about £360 – £540. But with both brands coming with cult followings, something tells us it’s going to be a sell-out collection.
