The spring accessory collections for 2015 are heavily influenced by 1970s fashion and design. From stacked sandals to bohemian jewels the impact of this vibrant era on designers is clear. However, the collections also feature a lot of other fantastic upcoming trends. Let’s take a look at some of the most prominent:

Statement earrings

You’ve had fun with statement heels; now the focus of our attention should be lifted; to our earlobes. The spring collections feature large, bold ear ornaments that immediately attract attention.  Feathers, geometric shapes and cuffs are popular choices for this daring jewellery trend. The more colourful, sparkly and intricate the style the better. However, that doesn’t also mean the more earrings the merrier. For another accessory statement that is on trend this year, only decorate one lobe with an elaborate adornment.

Sky-high platform sandals

In keeping with the 1970s trend that is currently inspiring much of the creative world, it’s all about platform sandals this spring. This form of footwear should certainly be among your spring shoe selection this spring. Think chunky wooden platforms with brown leather buckles. These would look perfect under a pair of flared jeans for the ultimate 70s chic look. Don’t be afraid to make even more of a height statement with your platforms. Look for vibrant styles in leopard and snakeskin print and floral or geometric patterns.

Brassy tones

Brass necklaces, rings,  earrings and clutches are featuring a lot this spring. Fortunately, this material goes well with a variety of colours, textures and patterns, making it easy to incorporate into a many of your outfits.

The long and short of it

Handbag straps this season aim to please. Petite, compact bags with trim handles are on trend, as are lengthy straps on bags that hang lazily from the body. In a professional or formal setting look for a lovely leather box like handbag. But team a fun and colourful purse complete with gold chain that goes on forever with a laid-back weekend outfit.

Heeled gladiators

The former flat shoe has recently taken a sexy turn. Knee high heeled gladiators are prominent in the spring accessory collections of 2015. These range from black leather dominatrix styles to fun black and white sandals reminiscent of 60s glamour. It will take a brave lady to step out in this style, but it can look fabulous when done right.

Eye-catching frames

When it comes to sunglasses this spring, the more interesting the style of frame the better. To get started, have a look at sunglasses by Karen Walker for her range of unique sun specs. Look for frames in bright, bold colours, interesting patterns and those that are shaped in an unusual way. Eye-catching lenses in yellow, blue and pink tones are also on trend this spring.

Oversized pendants

This year it’s all about big and bold necklace pendants. Look for statement pendants in materials of the moment, including marble and quartz, on lengthy chains and allow it to dominate your outfit.

I hope you enjoyed this advance look at the accessory trends for this spring.
