Marios Schwab launches a seductive lingerie line for Asos.
This will be the prolific designer’s very first lingerie collection, named Kallisti, produced exclusively for online retailer Asos. London Fashion Week designer, Schwab, is working exclusively with Asos Inc, the initiative created to support up and coming designers.
Kallisti draws on Schwab’s Greek heritage and translates to ‘for the fairest’ as was inscribed on the golden apple of Discord, believed to be thrown to a group of goddesses, in order to determine who was the most beautiful, with Aphrodite eventually winning the dispute.
The twenty five piece collection is certainly for the fairest, being both bold and sensual, in statement colours of mustard and red, along with more muted black and nude pieces.
Marios Schwab says, ‘Fusing the element of undergarments and the world that is hidden beneath clothes is a continuous inspiration behind the designs I create at Marios Schwab, the detailing that goes within garments and craft involved is something I have been surrounded by since a young boy looking at the work my dad would bring home.’
The collection really evokes a sensual sophistication with any of these pieces making for a perfect Valentines gift, or treat for a loved one. Many of the pieces in the collection are crafted from power mesh, which adopt a sportier and more contemporary approach to lingerie, with not a flower or a ruffle in sight. Perfect for those who are more into a fuss-free approach to dressing.
However, signature luxe touches are used on Schwab’s heavenly sequinned spider web bra and briefs and his attention to detail is, as he is recognised for, simply extraordinary; with intricate latticework, embellishment and lace edging featuring on a number of the pieces.
