It has been announced that iconic Spanish shoe designer, Manolo Blahnik will show at London Fashion Week. Joining the likes of LFW’s most high profile brands, such as Burberry and Christopher Kane, the London presentation will be a first for Blahnik.
Known for his intricate illustrations, being the go-to footwear brand for Carrie Bradshaw, and of course, those beautiful shoes; Manolo Blahnik is one of the world’s most iconic footwear designers.
This year, Blahnik makes his London debut as his designs will tread the floor at September 2013’s London Fashion Week. Blahnik will host a presentation on Sunday 15 September, the same day that some of the biggest LFW names will also show, including Mulberry, Jonathan Saunders, Mary Katrantzou, and fellow footwear designer Sophia Webster.
It’s great news for London Fashion Week and the British Fashion Council, who in recent years have ensured the world’s fashion spotlight is firmly fixed on the capital.
The announcement is not the first time Blahnik and London Fashion Week have held a connection. Last season, the much-loved shoe designer created the official artwork, which appeared across the February LFW campaign and marketing products. Blahnik said the inspiration behind the designs was his late friend, Anna Piaggi. Italian fashion writer and style icon, Anna Piaggi had passed away the year before, making the Blahnik designs a touching tribute.
The 70-year old designer was also awarded the British Fashion Council’s Award for Outstanding Achievement in 2012, which makes his London debut all the more poignant.
With more and more global names and a wealth of fine young talent, London Fashion Week is evolving to be one of the most exciting places to be during Fashion Month.
London Fashion Week will take place from Friday 13 September – Tuesday 17 Sepetember 2013. The Manolo Blahnik presentation will take place on Sunday 15 September 10am-4pm.
