Louise Gray Teams Up With Lulu Kennedy

Lulu & Co and Louise GrayAfter a short hiatus from her eponymous womenswear line, Louise Gray is back for Spring/Summer ’14, with a partnership with fashion fairy godmother, Lulu Kennedy.

There was a Louise Gray shaped hole at September’s London Fashion Week as the Scottish designer took a hiatus from her eponymous womenswear label. Gray has been quietly consulting for a number of brands during her time off, but for SS14 she is back with a partnership with fairy godmother of fashion, Lulu Kennedy.

Kennedy, who is responsible for London Fashion Week’s Fashion East initiative, which supports young, upcoming designers each season, has teamed up with Gray for her SS14 Lulu & Co. collection.

It’s not the first time the duo has paired up, Gray was in fact once one of Kennedy’s Fashion East prodigies.

Gray’s unique aesthetic can be seen throughout the collection, in the playful prints and girlish silhouettes. ‘Babe!’ slogan sweatshirts and heart print tees are mixed with giant polka dot pencil skirts and feminine summer striped A-line skirts.

Flirty peplum skirts are mixed with graffiti print tees layered under pastel hued bustiers. It’s both girly and boyish at the same time – much like the Lulu & Co. line has been before.

“Every piece that Louise has made for Lulu & Co looks fabulous and has been really popular with buyers, which confirms what a strong demand there is for her work,” said Kennedy of the partnership, “I selfishly hope that she will be back soon with her own label, we all miss her so much and LFW didn’t feel the same without her last season.”

What’s next for Louise Gray is still to be announced. But for now we’ll do with investing in her Lulu & Co. line.
