Harvey Nichols Announces New CEO

Stacey CartwrightBurberry’s Stacey Cartwright is announced as the new Chief Executive Officer of luxury department store Harvey Nichols.

From one iconic British fashion brand, Burberry to another, Harvey Nichols – Stacey Cartwright joins the luxury department store’s team as Chief Executive Officer.

Cartwright previously held the position of Chief Financial Officer and Executive Vice President at British luxury brand Burberry, and has been praised for its huge success and transformation in recent years.

Known as a business brain rather than a fashion insider, Cartwright took Burberry’s turnover from £676million in 2004 when she first joined the company, to over £2billion in 2013. She is also held responsible for breaking the British brand into new markets, most notably China and the Middle East, as well as transforming Burberry’s tarnished image of bad fakes into a respected, luxury label once more.

“I am delighted to be joining Harvey Nichols at such an exciting time in the luxury retail market; a market which demonstrates significant potential and for which I have enormous passion,” said Cartwright of the new role, “I am excited by the opportunity to further develop this world class brand both in the UK and internationally.”

Cartwright’s predecessor, Joseph Wan held the Harvey Nichols position for 21years and will be leaving to take on a well-deserved retirement from March 2014.

Cartwright’s appointment from Wan isn’t the only mix up in the Harvey Nichols’ team of late. Last year the brand’s fashion director Paula Reed resigned after just one year in her role.

Is this a new phase for Harvey Nichols? We’re excited to see what Cartwright plans to do with the iconic, luxury fashion destination. Watch this space.

Stacey Cartwright joins Harvey Nichols on February 17th, 2014.
