Christian Dior Takes Over London’s Harrods Store

London’s Harrods store will play tribute to one of the world’s most loved fashion houses this spring, Christian Dior.

Nine separate pop up Dior shops will be housed in the iconic department store from March 16 to April 14, including everything from in-store events to never before seen exhibitions and exclusive displays.

Two of the world’s most stylish cities will collide with the takeover as London’s iconic red telephone and post boxes will sit side by side with Dior’s signature silhouette cutouts, miniature mannequins showcasing stunning past looks and beautiful sketches. All dressed up in Dior’s elegant and chic grey and white colour palette, the popup is said to be a “French Savior Fair with British charm.”

“Like the house of Dior, Harrods is reputed for astounding and satisfying its elegant women all over the world,” said Sidney Toledano, president and CEO of Christian Dior. “The inspired collaboration with Harrods not only draws attention to Monsieur Dior’s relationship with the fabled department store but also affirms the house of Dior’s continued high standards via creation and discernment.”

There’ll be plenty to see and do even if you’re not a fashion fan (surly husbands take note) as Royal Beefeaters inside the famous Brompton Road store will be suited and booted in Dior’s creative director Raf Simons’ designs.

Also, tempt your taste buds at the Café Dior popup where some of Monsieur Dior’s favourite dishes including the lobster club sandwich will be on the menu.

Whist up on the fourth floor, visitors will be astounded with a reconstruction of the 30 Avenue Montaigne Dior headquarters.

Harrods have delved into their impressive archive too to find captivating images of Christian Dior visiting the department store in the fifties, which will make up part of the exhibition. And beautifully constructed Dior gowns worn by the likes of Elizabeth Taylor and Princess Diana will bring the exhibition to life.

This is without a doubt one of 2013’s fashion highlights and a must-see for fans of the iconic French fashion house.

The Dior takeover at Harrods will run from March 16 to April 14 2013 at Harrods, 87-135 Brompton Road, Knightsbridge, London SW1X 7XL
