StyleNest headed West for a bespoke, no-frills facial by none other than the famous facialist, Katherine Jackson.
With many strings to her bow, Katherine Jackson is an acupuncturist, practitioner of Chinese medicine, shiatsu specialist, reflexologist, and of course a facial therapist, all in one. Also a member of the Society of Cosmetic Scientists, Katherine Jackson certainly knows what she is doing, and has an ever-growing reputation amongst clients and the beauty industry.
In a quaint little treatment room based in trendy Fulham, StyleNest met up with the beauty therapist for a bespoke facial. This is the only facial on the menu as Katherine believes in tailoring her treatments to the specific needs of each client.
Her gentle tone immediately put us at ease. After removing our makeup to create a blank canvas, Katherine put her reflexology skills to use, giving the face a light massage before cleansing. Using her own products, which she makes by hand, Katherine removed dirt and excess oils from the skin. Always one to veer away from the traditional and a strong believer in the negative effects of scented products the well-known beauty therapist avoids any fragrant indulgences, and leaves all her on-the-spot mix-ups paraben and aroma free. With focus placed on revealing clean and clear skin, little things like a fragrant product seem to her, superfluous. With such wonderful results, we could see why.
Katherine is somewhat of a machine whizz kid too, mixing her natural approach to beauty with top notch technology. Using her Pore Cleaning Machine to remove deep-rooted sebum and dirt, this gadget vibrates to lift deep-rooted oil and dirt. We instantly felt a difference, and after more cleansing Katherine got to work with her second machine, the Cold Laser.
Not as scary as it sounds, this machine works beneath the skin’s surface to alleviate skin problems. Blemishes and pimples are zapped away with a quick flash of beaming red light. Skin was also plumped-up via a boost of collagen. Our faces immediately appeared more youthful and healthy – at least a few years were taken off.
The Ultra Sound Machine came next. Yes that’s right you read correctly. This Ultra Sound Machine however does not provide you with a 2D image of your abdomen, rather it helps propel all the goodness of Katherine’s handmade products deep into the skin so that post-facial effects last a little longer.
A little spritz here and there and an application of indulgent oils to finish, our facial was complete. The combination of all her wonderful products and professional machinery left us with mouths wide open. Our faces were glowing, but not superficially. It seemed to come from deeper within and made all the difference to our confidence once we left the treatment room sans makeup.
This beauty therapist certainly lives up to her reputation.
