Tucked away on the lower ground of the recently developed Dolphin Square, The Spa is one of London’s hidden beauty havens. The main building is modern and bright but as you step through the spa’s carved oak doors, you feel like you have been transported to an ancient Moroccan Mammam. The Moroccan theme is apparent throughout, with warm deep red walls, gold detailing on ornate lamps, the smell of fragrant oils in the air and calming Arabian music – it’s hard not to feel instantly relaxed.
Before our treatment begins we are shown to the changing rooms where a locker has been prepared for us complete with a robe, plenty of towels, sandals and a complimentary Moroccan soap. Once ready we are taken to a waiting room that backs out onto an open terrace. It’s a little chilly to be used in February but we imagine it is lovely when the weather is a little warmer. Here, a therapist carries out a traditional Moroccan ritual of washing your hands ready for your treatment. The Dolphin Square’s water is unique in the fact that it is drawn from the only working Artesian well in the City of Westminster, meaning it is mineral rich.
Once in the treatment room, we talk through our health and wellbeing with our therapist to ensure we get exactly what we want out of the massage. As it is a bespoke aromatherapy treatment, the therapist will choose which oils work best for your skin and your mood – for example; lethargic, in need of a confidence boost or having digestive issues. Using Aromatherapy Associates essential oils, the therapist creates a blend of three of oils your body is in need of.
To begin with the massage felt a little uncomfortable but as we eased into it we could tell that the therapist was actually just working out every possible knot and stiff joint – a testament to how sitting at a computer all day really affects your body. Despite this, she was very reassuring and making sure the pressure was never too strong or painful in anyway. Working through our back, shoulders, legs, arms and finishing with a light head massage, we not only felt relaxed and calm but our body really did feel rejuvenated, much more flexible and we even noticed a difference in our posture.
The Bespoke Massage treatment is ideal for working mums that spend hours at a desk or for those of you who are just feeling the effect of the cold winter chill on muscles and joints. If you really are suffering from quite severe tightness in your shoulders or back, we recommend having a massage like this once a month. Regular treatments like this can be pricey, but fortunately The Spa at Dolphin Square have teamed up with online beauty porthole, Wahanda to offer fantastic discounts on a range of treatments, including the Bespoke Massage. Book through Wahanda and the treatment will set you back as little as £39. Or, why not treat you and a friend to a treatment and make a whole day of if? Once you’ve had your massages you can relax in the spa’s relaxation room whilst sipping sweet Moroccan tea and away from the stress of the city.
Book The Bespoke Massage Treatment through Wahanda here. Prices start from £39.
