Look after your skin this summer and avoid wrinkles with Clinique’s Beauty Tip: Sun Protection Top Tips. This summer, have fun in the sun sensibly and absorb the sun’s precious rays but ensure you shield yourself with Clinique’s range of sun care barrier products.
Choosing the correct SPF for your skin type can often be confusing depending on skin colouring and type. Very fair skin takes 2 minutes natural burning time and 60 minutes with SPF 30 whereas olive skin takes 10 minutes natural burning time and 300 minutes with SPF 30.
StyleNest have teamed up with Clinique’s Dr Tom Mammone, Executive Director of Skin Physiology and Pharmacology to ensure you maintain a healthy looking glow this summer. Dr Tom Mammone believes “Sun exposure is the leading cause of premature skin ageing, including hyperpigmentation and wrinkles. If properly used, sun screen will help prevent and protect the skin from this type of damage”.
- Clinique recommends:
- Allow for your sun cream to absorb. After a few minutes, you can therefore, expect more effective results. Clinique recommend a dedicated sunscreen for beach or outdoor activities with a water resistant formula. A moisturiser with SPF is adequate for daily activities but stronger formulas should be used in higher sun conditions or with increased physical activity.
- Water resistant or waterproof sunscreens should be reapplied at regular intervals as it is rubbed off with sand, perspiration and swimming. Clinique advise that sunscreen is used on a cloudy day as UVA rays (ageing rays) are still penetrative whereas, in summer UVB rays (burning rays) are strongest.
- A layer of sunscreen should be applied 20-30 minutes prior to exposure and reapplied every two hours or when necessary. To protect the whole body, 30 grams of sunscreen is needed.
Step 1. Clinique Sun Protection – Face
To protect your skin this summer, use Clinique’s non-greasy and oil-free formulas, which are water and sweat resistant and even suitable for the most sensitive of skins. For the face use City Block Sheer SPF 25 (£16) which is a sheer lightweight UVA/UVB sunscreen.
The formula absorbs excess oil and can be used around the eye area. Alternatively, use the Face Cream in SPF 30 and SPF 40 (£17) which uses SolarSmart technology to deliver effective protection against UVA and UVB rays. An almond size amount is enough to create a barrier film on your face and neck.
For sensitive areas such as the lips, eyes, ears and nose use the Targeted Protection Stick SPF 35 (£16).
For a lightweight formula with high-level sun protection, use Super City Block SPF 40 (£16).
