Beauty Tip: Contouring

StyleNest’s favourite makeup artist, Murat Aktas is back to bring you his latest clean makeup and contouring top tips.

We all long for a flawless complexion with killer cheekbones, a look we saw at Etro, Theyksen Theory and Alexander Wang. With these simple top contouring you can achieve a fresh faced complexion and ensure your features maximised. A sophisticated spring time look that will never date.

Clean makeup and basic contouring will give you a flawless look that will accentuate your eyes and define your cheekbones. Scared or just don’t have a clue? Simply follow Murat’s simple and easy steps for a stress-free, revolutionary way of makeup application with RMK.

Step 1 – Clean and Clear Skin

Always start with cleansed skin. One of my favourite facial washes has to be  RMK Cream Soap. Then follow with an intensive moisturiser.

Step 2 – Concealer for Eyes (base contour)

Choose the right shade of concealer for your eyes (this will always be one or two shades lighter than your actual skin tone). The RMK Super Basic Concealer Pact Palette comes in s soft pink hue for fair skin and a dark peach for darker skin tones. Apply the concealer, starting from the inner corner of your eye, blending neatly underneath your lashes.

Step 3 – Concealer for the Cheeks (base contour)

Pick a colour that is two shades darker then your natural skin tone, which will hide any blemishes or dark spots. Brush the concealer on straight under your cheekbones and blend upwards to give you that defined look that Kate Moss has perfected.

Step 4 – Foundation

When working, a personal favourite is RMK Liquid Foundation, which hides any blemishes on the models (yes, they’re not perfect). Apply the foundation using a foundation brush made from natural hairs that gives a beautifully smooth finish to your skin.

Step 5 – Add Some Colour

A dusting of colour on your cheeks will make them look even more healthy and radiant. RMK Airy Matte Cheeks powder blusher is so light that just a couple of strokes will give you flawless looking skin. Use a slightly darker colour on the areas of your face that would naturally catch the sun – cheeks, forehead, nose and chin.

Think big, think Cara Delevingne. Define those brows with an RMK eyebrow shadow always using the same colour as your eyebrows.

RMK Separate curl Mascara is amazing. Hold the mascara wand horizontally and brush upwards from the base of the lashes to the tips. Roll the wand as you go to separate the lashes and avoid clumps. True black mascara makes the most impact, but if you want a more subtle look, choose brown. Always apply two to three coats so that your lashes look as thick and stunning as possible.

Step 8 – Finish off with Natural Lips

To compliment your skin tone, choose a lip colour which is the same, or just a touch darker, than your natural lip colour. Darker shades have a minimising effect.
