Beauty Tip: Brow Trends

StyleNest have teamed up with Blink Brow Bar to bring you the latest brow tips to help you tame those unruly eyebrows. Say goodbye to uncontrollable brows for good.

This season, it’s all about big, bold and full brows so with Blink and StyleNest’s how-to guide, you can achieve your very own salon shaped arches. Blink bring you the latest brow trends and give you top tips on how to achieve them from the comfort of your bathroom.

Look 1. The Hollywood Sign

High and sculpted arches are reminiscent of an era gone by and pay homage to old Hollywood glamour. Backstage make-up artist Pat McGrath, whose signature look in the past few seasons has been to painstakingly bleach models’ brows has chosen to fill them in this season at YSL and Dior, emphasising their importance when creating a classical beauty look. Blink’s Nourishing Brow Oil (£16.00) restores brows to their former glory if they have been over-plucked or, indeed, bleached. To get this look, smoothly shade in brows using a brown eye shadow or brow powder. This is the most natural way to create a new brow shape. Be sure to emphasise the highest point of the brow for an exaggerated arch. Team with punchy red lips precisely applied as seen at Victoria Beckham.

There was a strong Asian influence at the shows this season, with warrior, Samurai-like elongated brows proving to be statement du jour at shows such as Thakoon and Zac Posen etc. This lifts the face and adds a youthful appearance but also envelopes a female sense of power. The key here is to keep them as straight as possible to strengthen the architecture of the face. Blink’s Brow Pencils (£13.00) are ideal for this (make sure they are freshly sharpened) and then following the natural line of brows, using the very tip of the pencil, extend them in a straight line.

Thick and bushy-seeming brows, when combined with a tonal and contoured approach to make-up, are the perfect combination to create a look that is both sexy and androgynous. Channelled at Alexander Wang (the show that forever supports the boyish brow), Preen, Topshop Unique, Missoni and Celine, there was no escaping this as a noteworthy trend. To best achieve tomboy brows, sketch in depth and density with one of Blink’s Eyebrow Pencils (£13.00) in a shade darker that your natural hair colour, comb upwards and then set in place with Blink’s Eyebrow Gel (£15.00).
