WHAT’S NEW IN BEAUTY?

2017 is off to a flying start in the beauty world, with exciting new product launches and big brand re-vamps.

Kicking it off and celebrating their 25 year anniversary with a complete brand makeover, ESPA are launching their latest product; Tri-Active Advanced Night Booster. ESPA’s holistic approach all those years ago, was way ahead of its time but it’s probably more relevant today than it ever was- ESPA founder, Sue Harmsworth MBE says “we’ve spent the last decade looking after our bodies. We’ll spend the next decade looking after our minds”. The new product is very clever, with just a few drops it transforms any daytime product into a supercharged night treatment with fantastic effect, another trailblazer, I can see other brands following suit in the future.

Don’t underestimate the masterminds at Vichy, they have massively upped their game in recent years and the products they are rolling out are phenomenal. The first new release for 2017 is the Idéalia Peeling night treatment. You apply the lotion with a cotton pad every night for a gentle but effective peel. Don’t be put off by the word ‘peel’ though it’s merely a term for a chemical exfoliant (rather than mechanical exfoliant, i.e. scrub). It contains Glycolic acid which eats away at the dead skin leaving a smoother more even complexion. It’s a great time saver and suitable for all skin types- even the most sensitive skins.

The next release from Vichy (after 9 years of research, no less) is their Slow Age moisturiser, which aims to do exactly that; slow down the ageing process. I think most people can accept the ageing process, it’s just the accelerated ageing we have a problem with. Used daily, Slow Age corrects the appearance of accelerated ageing, from age spots to ‘pillow creases’ by encouraging cell renewal and instantly hydrating the skin. It also contains the all important spf 25 to protect from further damage.

Duck & Dry are going from strength to strength, and I expect them to get even bigger this year! They have just opened their latest salon behind Oxford Street (Market Place) and it is stunning! Duck & Dry can’t fall into the ‘blow dry bar’ sector anymore, they are so much more than that- ‘social beautifying bar’ might be a better description. It’s designed with the social gal in mind with a party booking area, a sassy blow dry menu, party up-dos and Prosecco on tap- there is no better place to get your evening started!

Office bugs the bane of your life? Neal’s Yard have you covered with their latest line of ‘deskside-detox essentials’ including a desk size diffuser to purify the air, organic defence hand spray which kills 99.9% of harmful bacteria, a calming hand cream of Garden Mint & Bergamot, a Vitamin B supplement to pep you up and a Damniana & Wolfberry formula to increase energy and de-stress! No more sick days for us then!

The latest launches from non-toxic, eco-friendly Kind Natured, are the Shea & Macadamia Body Lotion and the Creamy Body scrub. Both are designed for very dry skin but I think they’re ideal for anyone living in hard-water areas too as they are so nourishing yet light on the skin and you don’t have to spend ages massaging the lotion in. Like the rest of the range they are sulphate, paraben and petrochemical free and start from just £4.99.
