Shu Uemura Art of Hair limited edition collaboration with Murakami

p-shuStyleNest tries out Shu Uemura’s iconic Wonder Worker – with a magical new twist for winter

Shu Uemura have given some of their most iconic hair products a playful makeover this festive season by collaborating with prolific Japanese artist Takashi Murakami for a limited edition collection.

The imaginative and colourful aesthetic of Murakami – who has notably been hailed as the ‘Japanese Andy Warhol’ by many critics – graces three of Shu Uemura Art of Hair’s best-selling products with a special design that cannot fail to make you smile.

Each item features Murakami’s iconic flower motif in this 2016 holiday collection, which brings the artist together with Shu Uemura to celebrate magical winter wishes.

With a penchant for striking design and good hair here at StyleNest, we couldn’t wait to get our hands on this set and decided to give the illustrious Wonder Worker a try.

This legendary blow-dry primer is enriched with moringa flower extract and claims to deliver seven instant benefits to the hair: hydration, detangling, smoothing, conditioning, boosting radiance, taming frizz, and adding silkiness. Impressive, right?

Despite its solid reputation, we were a little hesitant initially – this StyleNest writer’s fine locks are prone to dreaded product overload – but, encouraged by the cuteness of that floral packaging, we threw caution to the wind and sprayed all over on wet hair in place of a usual leave-in conditioner. The formula thankfully proved to be lightweight and smelt divine too.

Our tresses felt lighter somehow and a little easier to manage when combing through, despite often being prone to tangles. Post blow-dry the effect lasted and we were impressed by how soft the hair felt – plus there was the added benefit of a subtle shine and no greasiness. Even the colour seemed brighter.

All in all the Wonder Worker has proved itself to be an invigorating boost ideal at this drab time of year. It can also be used when air-drying hair which makes it perfect for warmer weather too.

Also available in the limited edition Murakami collaboration is the best-selling Cleansing Oil Shampoo and Essence Absolue Nourishing Protective Oil. Be quick though – the collection will be available for a limited time only, exclusively in premium salons from December 2016.
