Daniel Hersheson Flagship Review

Daniel Hersheson Eight CutsSince the early 90s top London hair salon, Daniel Hersheson has held a prime spot on Conduit Street. This year after a brand new salon makeover, a new product line and an innovative haircut menu, we thought it was time to revisit and review the iconic hair brand.

It’s always a little embarrassing taking a celebrity image of the haircut you want with you into the hairdressers. Is it really Alexa’s perfectly disheveled ‘do we want, or is it the wardrobe and cool-girl status to boot? Well, at Daniel Hersheson’s newly revamped and super plush flagship salon, you don’t have to.

The iconic London coiffeurs have created an eight-haircut menu of gorgeous cuts, from a 60s pageboy inspired bob to rock chic shaggy locks. Each of the cuts are showcased on beautiful, blown-up, black and white photographs that adorn the salon walls.

Model shots with gorgeous healthy locks are no new thing in salons, but what sets Daniel Hersheson’s approach apart from the rest is that they are realistic.

Don’t expect My Little Pony candy colours or direction cuts here, no, each and every one of the eight images reflects real haircuts that could work in the everyday, whether you have thick unruly hair or silky fine locks, work in an office or are in fact a supermodel.

It’s also a great way to get to know your hair and what will suit you and takes lead from Hersheson’s hugely popular blow-dry. We sat down with our stylist and had a long chat picking a soft fringe from one image but swapping the layered bob style for a blunter, more refined length. It’s there to use.

Over a delicious strawberry smoothie from the Hersheson’s food and drinks menu, we came to a collaborative decision with our stylist – a mid-length cut to chop off the split ends mixed with a soft, middle-parted sweeping fringe for a nod to mod.

From the moment you enter the salon to the moment you leave, you’re looked after. From checking in with the Hersheson girls on iPads to a bells and whistles hair wash – massage chair, footrest and all – to the cut itself, and there’s even a product wall that you stylist will talk you through should you need to top up on dry shampoo or fancy a clip-in pony for the party season.

Another thing we noticed whilst in the chair was the incredible lighting the new salon has been kitted out with. No one likes to sit and stare at themselves with wet hair under eye-bag enhancing lights, but the interiors design fit of the salon is as flattering as they come.

We left genuninely happy and confident with our new cut. After a decade of Hersheson’s celebrating the blow dry in their blow dry bars, it’s great to see the Daniel Hersheson brand back doing what it does so well – beautiful, realistic hair for realistic women.

It won’t be long before we’re back.

Cut and Finish from £60.
